What We Do
- Provide 1:1 and group sessions for patients with dietary issues related to persistent pain conditions and/or chronic conditions affecting pain & pain management
- Develops education sessions about the importance of nutrition in persistent pain management
- Nutrition and Inflammation, Mediterranean Diet
- Practice from a weight neutral perspective, focus on improving health through behavior change whether weight change occurs or not. Health promoting lifestyle change has benefit regardless of the weight, body size or a change in weight of the individual.
- Examples of conditions Dietitians often see in pain program:
- digestive pain and symptoms (IBD, IBS, celiac), nutrition and inflammation, adequate nutrient and energy intake, building awareness of and response to body cues, general healthy eating, adequate hydration, improving food & body relationship
- Comorbid chronic conditions including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, PCOS, fatty liver
- Examples of who we do not see:
- Severe eating disorders
- Cancer nutrition
- Renal nutrition
What We Do Not Do
- Food Police
- Meal Plans
- Weight Loss – as we do not use weight as an indicator of health or success
