What We Do
  • Provide 1:1 and group sessions for patients with dietary issues related to persistent pain conditions and/or chronic conditions affecting pain & pain management
  • Develops education sessions about the importance of nutrition in persistent pain management
    • Nutrition and Inflammation, Mediterranean Diet
  • Practice from a weight neutral perspective, focus on improving health through behavior change whether weight change occurs or not. Health promoting lifestyle change has benefit regardless of the weight, body size or a change in weight of the individual.
  • Examples of conditions Dietitians often see in pain program:
    • digestive pain and symptoms (IBD, IBS, celiac), nutrition and inflammation, adequate nutrient and energy intake, building awareness of and response to body cues, general healthy eating, adequate hydration, improving food & body relationship
    • Comorbid chronic conditions including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, PCOS, fatty liver
  • Examples of who we do not see:
    • Severe eating disorders
    • Cancer nutrition
    • Renal nutrition

  • Weight Loss – as we do not use weight as an indicator of health or success
