Physician members of the Grande Prairie PCN and Saddle Hills PCN can make referrals for individuals 6 years and older.

The clinic does not accept referrals for pregnant patients or children under the age of 6 years old. The allergy clinic does not do skin testing for the following:

• Medications
• Bees

• Referrals can be made using the PCN Central Referral Form.
• On the referral form please indicate the reason the patient is being sent for allergy testing
• The referral will be triaged. The PCN aims to update the referring physician within 5 days of the referral outcome.
• Please identify if the patient is taking Beta Blockers on the referral form
• Please indicate if the patient has been prescribed a puffer/inhaler for asthma

Following the appointment, the referring physician will receive a consult letter and the encounter will be uploaded into Netcare. A copy of the patient’s diagnostic allergy report will also be sent to the referring physician.

Patients will receive a detailed letter outlining how to prepare for their appointment. This information is also available on our website for reference. This includes information on which medications should be stopped prior to their appointment. Please ask the patient to review this information and follow the instructions so that they can get the most out of their appointment.

Is there a cost for the allergy clinic?
Yes. There is a $50 patient fee for allergy testing. If the patient does not attend the appointment without prior contact with us, a $100 fee will be charged to rebook the next appointment.
