After-Hours Clinic Information for Member Clinics

Description of Service

The Grande Prairie PCN After-Hours Clinic is available for patients with minor injuries or illnesses that are non-life threatening, including those normally seen by a family physician during regular office hours. The After-Hours Clinic doors open at 5pm Monday to Friday and 10am on Saturday, Sunday, and many Statutory Holidays. Patient registration continues until capacity is reached, however the building closes as 10pm on weekdays and 4pm on weekends and holidays. Hours of operation are subject to change.

Examples of services provided at the After-Hours Clinic include treatment for:.

  • Minor lacerations (including stitches and suture removal)
  • Prescription refills
  • Strains and sprains
  • Minor burns
  • Ear infections
  • Sore throats
  • Ingrown toenails
  • Wart and mole removal
  • Routine pap tests
  • Driver’s medicals
Who is Eligible

Any patient who requires primary care services outside of regular business hours.

Exclusion Criteria

Our After-Hours Clinic does not provide the following services:

  • X-Rays
  • Setting fractures or breaks
  • Completing certain types of paperwork that requires an existing and/or ongoing relationship with a primary care practitioner (e.g AISH applications, Alberta Supports, long term disability, insurance forms)
Referral Process & Referral Requirements

No referral is required to access the After-Hours Clinic. Patients seeking care can access the clinic via walk-in service.

What to Expect

After your patient has accessed care at the AHC, we will automatically send a summary of their visit to their primary care provider for continuity of care.

Is there a cost for any services at the After-Hours Clinic?
Yes. For some uninsured services there is a fee attached. Payment can be made with cash, credit, or debit.
